Jordi Busqué (Barcelona, August 1977) studied physics obtaining his degree in the speciality of Astrophysics. During his PhD in the Universitat de Barcelona and in the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (CNRS) he carried out a research program of discovery of new eclipsing binary systems in the Magellanic Clouds (two small galaxies in the Local Group).

Astrophysics is very interesting and important for the understanding of the world but doing research in this field requires too many hours in front of a computer, something that Jordi didn't like much. This fact made him start to think seriously that photography (his hobby until then) could be a profession that would provide great opportunities to spend time in open spaces and meet interesting people from different cultures. In 2006 decided to leave his employment and fellowship and went to Southamerica with a one-way plane ticket. After four months traveling with his brother Marc, mainly in Argentina, Chile and Bolivia, Jordi spent three more months travelling alone in Bolivia. During this last period Jordi created his first photographic stories.

Nowadays Jordi continues travelling around the world and publishing his pictures and texts in some of the most important international media, including the National Geographic Magazine. His work has been awarded and commended with important prizes like the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year conceded by the Natural History Museum of London and the BBC.
